Pitta / Pita
Pitta / Pita work is also known as ‘Dabke ka kaam’ – flattened embroidery.
In this type of work, the artisans (karigar) first do the embroidery by hand using metal threads to create the design. The metal threads are then beaten into the fabric using a wooden hammer, giving it a unique look as the embroidered threads are flat and not raised.
The effort taken by each artisan is very substantial as he has to be extremely focused to create the delicate art work and also to beat the metal threads to achieve the required thickness of the art.
